Description:

"READ" poster
Phylicia Rashad for America's Libraries

Copyright 1986 American Library Association

Photo: Kimberly Butler

You are bidding on an official American Library Association (ALA Publishing) poster from their Celebrity READ campaign.  Created by the ALA in 1985, each READ poster features a famous person posing with their favorite book (or books).  All celebrities are chosen because of his/her popularity, appeal and visibility to a general audience.  The ALA tries to feature a range of diverse talent who would be great spokespersons for reading to both adults and children.  If you've ever visited your local library (which you hopefully have), you've probably seen a poster like this with an actor, musician or other star persona spotlighted.

This particular poster features
Phylicia Rashad reading the classic Moby Dick by Herman Melville.  Phylicia was the second star of The Cosby Show to be featured in the ALA's Celebrity READ poster series...TV hubby Bill Cosby was the very first READ star (which I also have up for auction).

A great back-to-school gift, for your child's room or college dorm...or, celebrate the kids leaving the nest by turning their old room into your new study/library, and hang this fantastic poster there!

CONDITION:

Unfortunately, there are some stray pink/purple ink pen marks on the bottom left corner of this poster, and one on the back as well.  I'm not sure if there is a way to erase this.  Otherwise, it is in pretty nice shape.  No evidence of tape removal or tack holes from being displayed, and the corners are all still sharp.
